Band
We offer Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Concert Band.

The Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band and Concert Band come together in the fall to form the award-winning, Satellite High Marching Scorpions! This ensemble is the largest student organization at Satellite and is the best place on campus to meet new friends, get acquainted with the school, and learn about our student lead tutoring and mentoring programs.

A.P. Music Theory
Satellite High School was the first high school in Brevard County to offer an AP Music Theory class. A music theory class is intended for seniors who have a strong background in music reading, choral/band experience or intensive private study experience. The rigorous course curriculum involves music writing, theory, sight singing, ear training and dictation.

AP Music Theory is a comparable college level class and covers instruction in the area of 16th - 20th Century composition and analysis. Students match pitch and develop relative pitch sensitivity through sight-singing and aural stimuli. Since its inception, Satellite has had the highest pass rate each year based on at least 15 students being tested. Enrollment is based on teacher recommendation.

Marching Band

Our Curriculum, Marching Band
The Marching Scorps have been entertaining crowds at District Festivals and football games for years. We utilize costumes, acting abilities, the best music literature, props and amazing performance techniques to wow audiences year after year. Many Brevard residents attend District Marching Festival just to see what Satellite will do next!

Marching Band starts with the annual Band Camp the week before school begins -- just one of the many Brevard County traditions started here at Satellite High School. During this time we learn marching basics, show music and show design. This is a fun week as well, with snow cones served at the conclusion of morning and afternoon practices, themed dress up days and fantastic prizes awarded daily. The week concludes with a performance of the show that has been learned and a beach cookout for all the students and parents in our music family!

The Friday before school starts will be our annual trip to Islands of Adventure in Orlando. Once school starts rehearsals are:
  • Tuesday 6 - 8:30 pm
  • Thursday 4 - 6 pm
These times enable you to work with teachers after school and to attend any club or sports meetings you might have. The band performs at all football games, District Marching Festival and other invitation only events.
